Meet the teacher:
Hi, my name is Mrs. Abigail Cook and I have always loved listening, playing, and creating music...yes, even creating it! As a child, I was always adding 'endings' to my piano repertoire to make it sound 'better'. This passion to create music has allowed me compose many Bible verse songs and hymn arrangements, as well as, bless my students, on occasion, with a piano piece made especially for them.
I received private piano lessons for 9 years between 5 different piano instructors. When I look back on these years it is very evident that I progressed in my music studies when I had a teacher whom I truly liked. One of my piano teachers told me, when I had asked for teaching advice, "The most important thing is that my students like me." At first it sounded odd that building a rapport with my students was the "most important thing". However, after a few years of teaching, I soon realized my students who progress the most are those who enjoy not only the piano, but also their teacher. In 2010, a friend asked me teach their daughter. I accepted the offer, never knowing how the Lord was going to use this experience in my life. From the first lesson, I began to discover how much I enjoyed teaching the piano and sharing my passion to play and create with others! Today my first piano student has moved away, but I am forever grateful to her parents for giving me that first chance to experience the joy of teaching piano. My desire is to share the joy of the piano with young people and those who remain 'young at heart'. |
